Site Assessments

guiding you towards opportunities

We provide a free initial assessment. If you have a development project in mind we can provide guidance on your chances of planning success, consideration of your draft scheme, research the Council’s relevant planning policy, consult the Council’s records of the planning history for the site, and advise on any other expertise to be involved.

Based on our findings from the initial assessment we can advise on the type, scale, and potential details of the scheme.

Planning Applications

expertise based on professional knowledge

Based on our findings from initial assessment we can undertake pre-application negotiations with consultees such as the council’s planners, the highway authority, and the Environment Agency.

Armed with the feedback on the draft scheme, we will provide a complete application management service. Where appropriate, this would involve co-ordinating inputs from architects, highway engineers, ecologists and other specialists to ensure professional and comprehensive planning application is submitted. We write Design and Access Statements and Planning Statements to support the application. Post-submission we monitor the progress of the application, and liaise with the planning authority on any enquiries raised. Where necessary we also provide a presentation to the planning committee.

Planning Appeals

challenging bad decisions

We undertake planning appeals where the applicant has received a refusal of planning permission. With the changes to the appeals process introduced on 1st April 2026, the get it right first time approach places greater emphasis on front-loading the application process. Where a potential client receives a refusal of planning permission, our approach is to first assess the likelihood of success and advise the client before initiating the appeal.

Simon has extensive experience in handling appeals through written representations, hearings, and inquiries.

If you have received a refusal, we would be happy to review the decision and advise you on your chances of success and the appropriate course of action to pursue.
